Work of the Week: 04/12/20
Just when we thought we’d seen it all when it came to Christmas campaigns, this week heralded a few more crackers. Xfinity’s holiday film features a stressed out Steve Carrell as Santa who is all of us with his working from home set-up and many, many video calls. There’s also a sweet film from McCann New York for Microsoft taking us through our pet pooch’s dreams and into the world of Minecraft, Halo and Microsoft Teams.
The Aussies strike back with a few standout pieces of work from the week, from an auction-obsessed Lucky Cat by Saatchi&Saatchi to a very interesting way to deliver four pints to your mates with just two hands from Ogilvy.
And while loneliness and kindness are two of the major themes to come out of 2020, ITV marks five years of tackling loneliness with a print ad from Uncommon that’s a stark reminder of how isolated life can be for some. Erste Bank’s cartoon senior citizen highlights how patience and a little nudge in the right direction can be the start of many good things.
