Why We're Celebrating Creativity with Our New Editors' Choice Feed
Every week we see a lot of great work – seriously. With all the moans and groans about the ‘future of advertising’ and the state of creativity today compared with ye olden times, it can be easy to overlook the fact that all around the world there is a lot of interesting stuff happening. From big global brand ads to quirky experiments and projects packed with fascinating local insight, there is much to celebrate. That’s why this week we’ve introduced a brand new stream called Editors’ Choice.
With the help of Deputy Editor Addison Capper (hence the carefully placed apostrophe), I’ll be poring over submissions that we think really deserve a bit of extra recognition. With limited space in the weekly newsletter it can be a real heartache to choose which projects to include and which don’t quite fit with the rest of the week’s selection.
The beauty of the LBB platform is its flexibility (err, if I do say so myself) and we know that the people that use the site need a well-organised archive that lets them navigate the mass of work that the advertising industry puts into the world every day. One day you’re working on a potentially Cannes-winning car ad, the next it’s a quick and dirty social media project for an insurance ad – and you need to be able to scope out who’s doing what quickly and easily. But we also know that people also need to be able to keep up with the best of the best.
Editors’ Choice will put ground-breaking big brand campaigns next to the unusual, ingenious and insightful pieces that easily fall under the radar because of their scale or because of their locality. It’s an extra layer of curation and navigability, as well as being something that goes to the very core of what LBB is all about: celebrating creativity and the people behind it.
We’ve been populating the feed for the last week – so check it out here – and keep an eye on it to watch it grow. Plus we’ll be bringing everything together in a new monthly feature called ‘We Love, You Love’ to share our very favourite pieces of the past few weeks as well as revealing which pieces have been the most viewed and shared on the LBB site. It’s all about striking a balance between curation and democracy and giving you gals and guys of the creative industry the spotlight that you deserve.
