Weve Appoints Rajeev Bector as Chief Technology Officer
Weve today appointed Rajeev Bector as its new Chief Technology Officer. Bector has spent 17 years working in the tech industry, building successful internet, enterprise and telco software services, at a wide range of technology companies and Silicon Valley start-ups.
Bector has joined Weve from Yahoo!, where he worked for over seven years as Director of Engineering – first in the US and then recently in the UK, where he led the team responsible for Yahoo!’s EMEA & MENA search Business. In his US role, his team built & operated Yahoo’s cloud storage system (one of the world’s largest), a mission-critical component of hundreds of Yahoo's online services, worldwide. Bector also spent time working on Yahoo!’s edge services architecture and technology strategy, including its next-generation big data and content delivery network programmes.
Prior to joining Yahoo!, Bector was involved in a number of Silicon Valley start-ups, including search pioneer Inktomi (later acquired by Yahoo!), Akamai, Andiamo (acquired by Cisco) and Teracent (acquired by Google) where he drove the development of areas as diverse as machine learning algorithms for online ad-targeting to developed of core infrastructure platforms, security software, and operating systems.

A computer scientist by training, Bector was born and raised in India and relocated to the US for his Masters degree. He is an avid coder and spent many years as a kernel geek. He is very passionate about many different areas of software and infrastructure, including platforms, security and high availability.
