This Is The Only Map of LA You'll Ever Need (Probably)
Los Angeles is a vast and expansive city - and for visitors, whether they be working or tourists, it can be daunting and downright confusing to navigate. In an exclusive collaboration with LBB, LA-based consultancy Raconteur has created this map tailor-made for our industry of all the hottest neighbourhoods and the companies, bars and restaurants that reside within them.
LA is a creative machine, and the products of the talent that are started here are long-reaching and vast. LA has an undying enthusiasm for the new, and this is reflected in the businesses and the creative and what is produced and started here, from the advertising to the food to the culture and everything in between – and picked up everywhere else in the world.
In truth, there is no one LA. LA is what you make of it. It is best viewed like a series of villages, each with its own special flavor and charm. Most people, when they first move to LA head for Hollywood or the beach – and those places are great. But there’s so much more to the city, and our industry - with an eye always on what’s awesome - is often there first.
In this guide, we tried to focus on the companies that produce the most and best work actually generated from LA; and the coolest and best places in each little village where these communities are located. Presently Westside continues to reign as the place to be, with the most saturated area by far being Santa Monica – but with the incoming Silicon Beach tech community slamming prices through the roof, it’s inevitable that there has been growth outwards towards areas like Playa Vista and Culver City. And with DTLA’s incredible cultural scene happening, it’s only a matter of time before that’s a company hotspot as well.
But we’ve just scratched the surface here. We think an LA Guide No.2 might be needed…
