SX-The-Drinks: GSD&M’s Favourite Thirst Quenchers, 2 years, 7 months ago

It’s not all tech at SXSW, y’know? Join the Austin-based agency on a drinks tour of its hometown

SX-The-Drinks: GSD&M’s Favourite Thirst Quenchers

Located in the heart of Austin, Texas, GSD&M is no stranger to the SXSW experience. This year, 60 employees attend the festival and documented the experience through the drinks they enjoyed.

Beer & Bands

Location: Visa’s Everywhere Lounge

Drink Rating: 8—Because it’s a craft beer and it’s from Austin.

Enjoying a beer while listening to Jamestown Revival. Not a bad way to begin SX.

Morning Hydration

Location: Second Street

Drink Rating: 10—Because it was necessary to survive the day.

Taking a minute downtown to refuel and start Saturday off right. Definitely necessary after a crazy first night of SXSW. JuiceLand is one of Austin’s worst-kept secrets and for good reason.

Lone Star

Location: Mophie Lounge

Drink Rating: 10—Because of the dogs, obviously.

What’s better than free beer? A dozen St. Bernards you can pet while drinking free beer! Thanks to this Mophie activation for the free cuddles.

'Bramble' Craft Cocktail

Location: Kitchen Aid Happy Hour, The Driskill

Drink Rating: 9—Points for creativity and elegance in the midst of madness.

Not sure what was better, the craft cocktail or the people watching from the Driskill balcony.

Beer & Talking Lampposts

Location: Brush Square Park

Rating: 4—The lamp post idea was cooler than the beer.

Stopped by the registrant’s lounge and Hello Lamp Post kickoff party at Brush Square Park to enjoy a beer, then talked to some lampposts (there’s a first time for everything).

Ghost Pepper Margarita

Location: Frank

Rating: 8—Because now we have proof that everything’s bigger in Texas and everything’s spicier in Austin.

Nothing like a little ghost pepper to wake you up from that SX afternoon slump. Frank, located in the heart of downtown Austin, serves up great artisan hot dogs AND drinks.

Location: Isla

Rating: 9—For the awesome glass and the relaxation factor.

Taking a break from the madness at Isla and enjoying the laid-back Cuban vibe.

Ice-Cold Water

Location: 1886 Café and Bakery

Rating: Priceless

Nothing like a nice glass of cold water after a long, long day. And a cupcake as a sweet reward for surviving SX.
