Simian Taps Akamai to Deliver Creative Media Management Solutions
Content delivery network service Akamai Technologies Inc. (AKAM) has announced that Simian is using its media delivery solutions to support the company's creative workflow and evolutionary media management platform. With Akamai's services, Simian’s worldwide base of advertising and marketing agency, production, post production and media and entertainment company customers can quickly and securely store, access and share their entire media library.
Simian's cloud-based solutions allow organisations to collaborate efficiently on video-intensive projects by enabling fast access to content from any location or device. The content can be quickly and easily downloaded and incorporated into presentations or reviewed and annotated for later use.
Akamai's NetStorage cloud storage platform can play a crucial role in making the content highly shareable and available by intelligently storing and delivering files within close geographical proximity to users. Akamai also supports real-time visibility into download performance and views, which Simian uses as part of its analytics interface to help users to track and measure how and where specific content is being viewed and used.
"The video landscape is constantly evolving and our customers' needs are always changing. Partnering with Akamai helps ensure that we can seamlessly embrace new technologies and standards such as the adoption of HTML5 and a common video format in MP4, all of which allows us to do true streaming and sharing across all platforms and devices," said Jay Brooks, co-founder and CTO of Simian.
Akamai's NetStorage, the most globally distributed cloud-storage solution on the market, offers automatic, geographically dispersed replication for resiliency, high availability and real time performance optimisation. It is part of Akamai’s Media Delivery Solutions suite of products that are designed to offer a simple, high-speed cloud-based content workflow solution addressing the broad variety of network types at varying connection speeds.
"Simian's customers rely on its platform and solutions to access, share and deliver their content whenever they need it, regardless of whether it’s a sales pitch at a remote location or a presentation at a global headquarters," said John Bishop, CTO, Media, Akamai.
"With the help of Akamai's Media Delivery solutions, we believe Simian is successfully executing on a cloud business model that is providing its customers with a high-performing experience across devices without the need to build out expensive infrastructure."
Akamai and Simian will be exhibiting at the 2015 NAB Show, April 13 – 16 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Akamai will be at booth SL3325 and Simian will be at booth N7226.
