SaveGive Shares Your Unexpected Lockdown Savings with Those in Need
SaveGive and AKQA launched the calculator to support charities including CR, UNHCR. Now available in France, the UK, Turkey, and expanding to other countries and regions, SaveGive is a short and playful experience for the luckier ones in the crisis. By using public datas it calculates the extra saving each one is making during lockdown and invites to donate a part of it to the organisation. Covid-19 has unequally impacted people both on the health and on the financial aspects, and SaveGive allows those who can to help those in need.

On the one hand, millions of people's income decreases because they are constrained to temporary employment, or job loss. On the other hand, others are lucky enough to not only receive their full income but also to save money as they are staying home (no restaurants, drinks, leisure…). The OFCE even estimated that the French for example will save about 55 billion euros during the lockdown. But how might we make the lucky ones realise this and make them help the ones who need it most with these extra savings?
Louisa McGinn, head of public fundraising at Comic Relief says: “Right now, many of the charities we work with are facing a huge increase in demand. This includes women facing domestic violence who find themselves in lockdown with an abuser, people with mental health problems, and the very poorest families who now face an even greater struggle to cover the cost of essentials. It’s great to see companies like AKQA working to help those most affected by the coronavirus crisis.”
By going to savegive.fr, users can discover how much they’re saving to donate a part of it to charity. Not only a website but a service for any organisation. The website is built in a way that it allows any organisation to create it’s own version, directing directly to its donation platform, with custom URL, copy and CTAs. In a single day, a custom page can be built for any organisation. The page is populated through a simple CMS to make it easily scalable to any country. Countries only have to provide translation, link to the organisation they wish to help and the relevant data set to the CMS to create their own local version of the page.
