Saturday Night Live's Nora Dunn Talks the Best In Bleach for Clorox

Saturday Night Live alum, Nora Dunn, returns in Clorox’s new “Bleach Means Clean” campaign created by DDB California, which launched on, May 6. The actress and comedian stars as a no-nonsense bleach ambassador in Clorox’s new campaign, which groups their cleaning sprays and toilet bowl cleaners under one platform: “Bleach as an Ingredient.” The fully integrated program consists of TV, Digital, PR and Social executions and features the tagline, “Bleach Means Clean.” 

The ad campaign sets out to help consumers overcome the widespread belief that bleach-based cleaners aren’t for everyday use. Dunn’s knack for deadpan humor acts like a diversion against all of the gimmicks in the cleaning aisle, positioning Clorox Bleach as the original badass cleaner.

Two 15-second commercials titled, “On Kitchen Stains” and “On Bathroom Toilet” introduce Dunn’s character as the voice of reason, who, when faced with common household cleanups, reminds viewers that if you want clean, get a cleaner with bleach in it. Elements of the full-scale effort include one 30-second and four 15-second TV spots, six online videos (Vine and YouTube), social media (Facebook and Twitter), and digital display ads. The campaign will begin to run on network, cable and syndicated TV.
