Salt's Pedro Suarez Rubs Shoulders with Advertising's Elite in 'MailMen'
SALT TV’s commercial film director Pedro Suarez rubs shoulders with 5 of the UK’s top Advertising elite in Publicis Chemistry’s MailMen. A 21st century reincarnation of ‘50s advertising, the film captures the industry's sharp suited champions featured throughout Royal Mail’s campaign for its direct marketing division MarketReach.
Suarez’s earnest direction style creates work that reveals the genuine, humble, self-deprecating, and utterly charming individuals that lead the advertising, media and marketing industries.
"I was surprised at how down-to-earth and friendly everyone was. These are all very busy, important people, you'd expect them to be a little impatient, but they were totally accommodating and generous with their time.”
Suarez, a master at getting performances from real people, was impressed by how comfortable the execs were in delivering to the lens.
"I think all of them are used to public speaking and being in front of the camera in some way, so it wasn't too hard to guide them in the process of delivering the script. To get the authentic moments at the end of the film I spoke to the crew and told them not to stop filming even after I called "cut", so our subjects didn't know that we were still filming and we were able to capture some unguarded reactions."
A specialist in authenticity, Suarez’s films stand out for their warmth and an engaging tone that tells human stories and appeals to audiences. To view the full body of work by Pedro Suarez, and Soho London film production company SALT.TV, click here.
