McCann Manchester Says Hi to the Harveys in New Spot
McCann Manchester wanted to create something completely different for the market sector. A new campaign for Harveys was the chance to develop what they hoped would be a loved family on British TV. They were able to try this with their very supportive and brave client who was willing to push things and do something unexpected.
The creative team Tim Jones and James Cross approached the scripts like a sitcom or drama series. Working on character traits and backgrounds before they wrote any scripts and mapped out a number of story lines first. Then they wrote and re-wrote scripts several times, and scoped out enough content to potentially last a long time.
The casting process was extensive and crucial, they also had a period of workshopping with the actors so they all got used to each other as a family. They wanted everything to be as believable and natural as possible. Another Film Company’s Lucy Blakstad was key to that process. They hope the result is a great amount chemistry within the cast.
Says the creatives Tim and James: "Choosing Lucy to direct for us was always front of mind from day one. We’ve worked together in the past and we always felt she would be great for this project. Lucy has shared our vision from the beginning, using her infectious enthusiasm and skill to take the scripts to a higher plain. It’s been an intense process and we’ve all strived for perfection, and for that we are extremely grateful and hope that we can continue to develop 'the Harveys' for a long time to come.”
The DOP was Jaime Feliu -Torres and the spot was agency produced by McCann Manchester’s HTV Lucy Moore.
