La Tasca Adds a Taste of the Highlands to Its Spanish Dishes, 2 years, 5 months ago

'Discover Scotland' campaign heralds a brave new world of fresh food and fusion

La Tasca Adds a Taste of the Highlands to Its Spanish Dishes

Award-winning Spanish tapas bar and restaurant, La Tasca, is trialling a range of brand new dishes marrying traditional Scottish and Spanish ingredients to celebrate the distinctive culture and cuisine of each country.

The ‘Discover Scotland’ fusion dishes include Haggis Paella, Irn Bru Sangria and Patas Bravasheart. The new arrivals, developed by La Tasca Head chef, Antony Bennett, marry Scottish cuisine with the restaurant’s most popular tapas plates to encourage diners to experience new tastes and flavours.

Haggis Paella is a Scottish twist on one of the restaurants’ most popular sharing dishes, Paella de Carne. Haggis is combined with chicken and chorizo to provide a deep, rich meaty flavour, perfectly complimented by bold saffron-infused rice. The fusion dish forms part of La Tasca’s award-winning gluten free menu, giving diners greater, healthier choice.

Two great-tasting variations of Irn Bru Sangria have been developed combining La Tasca’s popular Sangria Mix with the iconic Scottish orange carbonated drink, Irn Bru. Irn Bru Scottish Sangria adds white wine to the mixed serve, whilst Irn Bru Scotch Whisky Sangria includes Bell’s Scotch whisky for a double dose of Scottish authenticity.

Patatas Bravasheart is a fiery twist on the traditional Spanish potato dish inspired by the 13th century Scottish warrior, William Wallace, who fought for Scottish independence. The plate includes cubed fried potato tossed in Tabasco topped with spicy tomato sauce and fresh red chillies.

The Discover Scotland fusion dishes have been introduced as part of La Tasca Scotland’s campaign, Discover, Scotland, to herald a brave new world of fresh food and fusion. The popular high-street eatery is urging Scots to take inspiration from the Mediterranean/Spanish culture of sharing to explore new tastes, new hobbies and discover more.

Rick Houston, La Tasca Scotland spokesperson, commented: “We’re committed to bringing fresh flavours and new experiences to our customers. Our brand new additions to the menu use the very best of Scottish and Spanish cuisine to blend taste and culture to create three delicious new additions to our menu.”

“Our aim is to bring the party to Scotland, fully loaded with tasty, even fresher Spanish bites that promote important conversation, better relationships and a healthier, happier Scotland.”
