Dutch cover band Allstars trick music recognition app

How 'The World's Best Coverband' Fooled Shazam

The Dutch coverband Allstars has found a clever way to claim the world cover band title. Not by convincing Simon Cowell or, but by fooling the Shazam app into thinking they are Avicii, Rihanna and other famous artists.

Hans Jong, the band's drummer, said: "We really wanted to let the world know we can get the party started, and get more bookings of course. So we needed to prove we are a great cover band, and the best way is the fun way. Then we got the idea of fooling Shazam. We thought, if even Shazam thinks you are Rihanna, Avicii or let's say Kelly Rowland you must be a great cover band. That turned out to be easier said than done, so you can imagine we were jumping around when it worked."
