Framestore Names William Bartlett Executive Creative Director

Framestore VFX Supervisor William Bartlett has been made an Executive Creative Director, a role that reflects Framestore’s expansion into new types of work that require a much greater level of strategic and creative input.

That change of focus has been illustrated by the opening of the company's dedicated virtual reality and immersive content studio last year. The studio has produced a string of spotlight-hogging experiences for the likes of Game of Thrones and Interstellar.

Bartlett has been at Framestore for nearly 20 years, leading the work on a number of award-winning commercials such as Guinness noitulovE, Smirnoff Sea and Johnnie Walker Fish. He has also supervised the VFX on a number of James Bond title sequences with Danny Kleinman, including Casino Royale and Skyfall. In 2013 he was VFX Supervisor on the ground-breaking Galaxy commercial, Chauffeur, using full-CG face replacement to bring Audrey Hepburn back to the screen.

"I am really looking forward to this new role and contributing to the next chapter in Framestore's success. We have creative teams with a phenomenal range of experience and with them are able to offer technical and creative solutions for every kind of advertising and entertainment requirement. From our traditional role as a VFX service provider, to VR, design, scripting, character design, direction, and even fairground rides, we have the expertise and the enthusiasm to take on any challenge. I am excited at the chance to work with all our departments and help our clients find the most original and interesting ways to communicate and interact with their customers," said Bartlett.

Framestore now has ECDs in each of its Integrated Advertising offices – Bartlett in London, Murray Butler and Mike Woods in New York, and Aron Hjartarson in LA.
