Process director Harron seeks to eliminate the stigma around periods with lighthearted film

Dear Kate & Mary Harron Shine Light on a Woman’s ‘First Time’

Four-lady startup, Dear Kate recently released short film, First Time directed by Process director, Mary Harron. Learn more about the film where women tell hilarious stories of their first adventure encountering their period.

The film’s intentions are to reframe the moment of getting your period so its stigma is eliminated and instead talked about, and has as much cachet as the time you first had sex, if not more. Starting with a playful innuendo with the women referring to their first time, it turns into a genuine and lighthearted discussion about their first foray into womanhood.

Dear Kate has also created a gallery on their site where people can record their own first time in hopes to inspire a greater dialogue around the many emotions and varied experiences of first periods.

Mary is the writer and director of American PsychoI Shot Andy Warhol, The Moth Diaries and The Notorious Bettie Page. Process, creative partner and indie film and content production company is a resource for brands to develop ideas and execute them.

Join Dear Kate and Process in changing the conversation around periods.
