DDB Chicago Appoints David Banta as SVP Group Creative Director

DDB Chicago, part of Omnicom Group, today announced David Banta has been named SVP, Group Creative Director, effective immediately. In his new position he will be responsible for a multidimensional creative team, handling messaging across integrated platforms on the agency’s Capital One account. Banta will report to John Maxham, Chief Creative Officer of DDB Chicago.

“We’re so psyched to welcome David to the DDB Chicago team,” said Maxham. “The diversity of his creative portfolio impressed me the most. I didn’t look for typical financial service experience because frankly, Cap One is anything but a typical financial services brand. Despite their success, they maintain the spirit of a challenger brand. Dave is exactly the kind of gutsy creative that can channel that spirit."

Banta served as EVP, ECD, at Hill Holliday in Boston for seven years, where he led creative on Liberty Mutual Insurance, Merrell Footwear, Capella University and Cadillac. Prior to Hill Holliday, he was a CD at Crispin Porter + Bogusky, Boulder, CO, where he worked on VW, Burger King, Miller Lite, Shimano and Giro. Before that he was a VP, GCD, at Doner in Detroit, where he oversaw creative on Six Flags, PNC Bank and Canadian Tire.

Banta commented, “I’m delighted to work at an agency with such a creative legacy and Capital One has been doing some of the most visible work on the planet. The team in place at DDB is very strong. I can’t wait to contribute to their success.”

A multi-award-winning creative with more than 20 years’ advertising experience, Banta’s work has been recognized by The One Show, The CLIOs, ADDYs, Hatch Awards, SF Awards and Communication Arts.
