Cressida Bonas Struts On Musical Grass in Stylish New Film for Mulberry

Mulberry kick off ‘From England With Love’, their new series of digital stories, with Ivana Bobic’s ‘Cressida Bonas and the Buttercup Dress’, starring Cressida Bonas and Freddie Fox.

Created through Image Partnership, Director Bobic - repped by Park Village/Able & Baker - teams up with BAFTA award-winning production designer Michael Howells, long-time collaborator Patrick Meller (DoP) and famed choreographer Martin Joyce to create a story celebrating the luxury brand’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection.

Set in an old court house in Clerkenwell, the film follows Bonas as she dances through her elegant surroundings, all the while showing off the Buttercup Dress, fresh from Mulberry’s capsule collection.

“It was an ambitious film in lots of ways but especially tricky in execution. The film is about adventure and spontaneity so Cressida’s dance was partly improvised.  We had to be limber and fast to capture it, and I love that,” says Bobic.

She adds, “The real grass paths had to be treated delicately, so we used cranes and shot around them to keep it from being trampled. The reflections in the mirrored room could have been really difficult but Michael took it in his stride. It was amazing to see it all in place on the day.”

The ‘From England With Love’ series will feature emerging talent from the worlds of fashion and style, film and theatre, art and design, digital and new technology.

“We had a great collaborative atmosphere and this is crucial because you make better work when you can trust each other,” adds Bobic. “I've worked with Patrick Meller on most of my films, he's such a talent and massively fun to work with, I met Michael Howells on this project, he blew me away with the production design, and Martin Joyce is a brilliant choreographer, we instantly started talking about experimenting and finding ways to keep it feeling free.”
