Colourist Jon Leese-Pomfret Joins Four Walls
Post Production house Four Walls is proud to announce the opening of its brand new Baselight colour grading suite along with the arrival of talented colourist Jon Leese-Pomfret. Founded by Andy Brown in 2006, Four Walls established a reputation in visual effects for commercials, television and feature films. Forming a partnership with Cut+Run London in 2010 and moving into their prestigious Wardour Street premises, the two companies have since creatively collaborated on many projects. The pair are now investing significantly in expanding their colour & VFX wing in addition to Cut+Runs Promos+Content division that launched earlier this year.
With a Baselight grading suite and Motion Graphics studio at their Soho HQ, Four Walls and Cut+Run’s collaborative investment means they are not only able to provide high-end talent, but full post-production solutions. Joining the ranks of their already acclaimed personnel, Jon carries with extensive post-production experience.
“It's a really exciting time here at Four Walls and it's great to have been involved with the expansion from the very beginning – helping Andy design the new suites and getting it off the ground. We have an amazing team here at Four Walls and I'm really looking forward to getting started and working alongside the talented bunch at Cut+ Run on our first projects together.” said Jon Leese-Pomfret.
From a family of keen photographers, Jon spent his childhood experimenting with old Nikon cameras, finding his passion for photography and colour.
“I love the photography of Helen Levitt, Bruce Davidson and Fred Herzog as well as the cinematic styles of Philip Lorca diCorcia, Alex Prager and Gregory Crewdson… I still get that same buzz I used to get as a kid when I pick up my films from the lab today.”
Growing up on an appetite of 90s music videos from Hype Williams and Dave Meyers, to Spike Jonze and Chris Cunningham, Jon’s love of music led him to work for a youth organisation called the iVan - a lottery funded project which took a mobile recording studio to schools, traveler sites and youth groups, providing music production and filmmaking workshops for underprivileged teens – It was during this time that Jon discovered post-production and decided to make the jump into the film industry as a runner at Pinewood Studios.
“I thought working at Pinewood was the best thing ever. It's an amazing place to work – full of heritage and colourful characters. But it wasn’t until I ran a tape over to Vince Narduzzo's place that I even knew that grading existed. I was intrigued by the dark room, giant screens and flashing buttons. With my love for photography, grading just made sense to me and felt like a natural path to follow.”
Jon made the shift into advertising after joining the grading department at Prime Focus, assisting a team of senior colourists on campaigns for H&M, Peroni and Chanel, grafting his way up through the ranks from a Grading Assistant to a Colourist.
Jon joins Four Walls having established himself on projects for high profile brands such as Nissan, Cadburys and Dominoes and on pop promos for Sigma and Paloma Faith, Hozier and pop princess Ella Eyre, with founders of Familia Films Craig Moore and Francis Wallis and acclaimed Irish Film Director Anthony Byrne.
“I love the fact that music is such a big part of my job as a Colourist - whether it's grading promos or listening to tunes in the suite.”
Four Walls founder and VFX artist Andy Brown who spearheaded the expansion of the company said “We are delighted to have Jon join the team. Having such a talented Colourist to lead our new Baselight suite is going to make a massive difference to us and our clients.”
Four Walls and Cut+Run are excited to welcome Jon Leese-Pomfret to their London roster of talent from June 2015.
