Pascal Degove, Managing Director of Goldcrest Films (Goldcrest) today announced that Goldcrest will co-produce supernatural thriller Slumber, alongside The Tea Shop & Film Company’s Mark Lane and James Harris.

Slumber tells the story of Alice, a rationally minded sleep doctor, who is forced to abandon scientific reason and accept a family is being terrorised by a parasitic demon which has existed in every human culture since records began. Paralysing victims as they sleep, the ‘Night Hag’ is the original Nightmare.

Slumber is written by Hopkins and 2013 Blood List Screenwriter Richard Hobley, and will be produced by Mark Lane and James Harris for The Tea Shop & Film Company.

Goldcrest’s Nick Quested and Pascal Degove are serving as Executive Producers.

Goldcrest Post (home to the Academy Award-winning sound team from Les Misérables) under Managing Director Patrick Malone will be providing picture and sound post production services.

“We’re convinced that the thrilling combination of Richard’s writing and Johnny’s vision as a director is a winner. We’re excited to be bringing it to the big screen and to be doing that with Goldcrest,” said James Harris.

Commercials Director Johnny Hopkins’ unique imagination and visual flare is behind popular campaigns for brands such as McDonalds, Sony and eBay; his “Singing Farmers” spot for Yeo Valley picked up three arrows at the British Television Advertising Awards and was voted amongst the top 10 TV ads of the year by Campaign magazine.

Johnny began his career on feature films including Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. His first short film, Goodbye Mr. Snuggles (starring James Fox and Robert Hardy), garnered awards worldwide and was selected into the Sundance Film Festival.

Johnny is exclusively represented for commercials by ACNE. You can view some of his work by clicking here.
