Luring OMD’s national head of strategy to further build the agency’s integrated communications offering

303Lowe Snares Gavin Gibson as New National Head of Media

Gavin Gibson, who will lead 303Lowe’s integrated media offering, brings a wealth of experience to the agency and has a strong background in strategic planning across all paid, owned and earned media platforms.

Nick Cleaver, chief executive officer at 303Lowe, said: “Gavin is a smart and accomplished thinker and we’re excited to welcome him to the 303Lowe team. His arrival will enable us to supercharge our full service offering and ensure all of our campaigns are planned and created utilising brand, channel and digital behavioural insights.”

“Gavin’s presence will ensure clients are offered a more efficient and effective means of planning and implementing campaigns. Better campaign ideas come from harnessing insights born from the consumer, brand and media landscape. His strengths and experience across programmatic, data, social and digital will also boost our capabilities and enable us to continue investing heavily in these areas.”

Gibson joins 303Lowe from OMD, where he was responsible for the agency’s strategic planning divisions, and has been a key player in OMD’s new business success and sits on the agency’s executive team.

Gibson said: “I am excited at joining the 303Lowe team and working in a full service integrated environment. I believe people’s media behaviour is a fundamental part of creating impactful and effective creative ideas that truly connect with consumers. The opportunity to be part of a team truly unlimited in terms of how it can translate client briefs into go to market campaigns is a very exciting proposition.”

Prior to his role at OMD Australia, Gibson was vice president, global marketing at HTC based at the brand’s headquarters in Taiwan. He was responsible for developing the HTC’s global brand strategy and integrated campaign solutions.

“Gavin’s breadth of experience in terms of the roles he has had working on the agency side and the fact that he’s been a very senior marketer on the client side will bring an invaluable perspective into our business. Teaming Gavin with our other discipline heads will strengthen the exciting integrated dynamic that defines our business and that’s been such a fundamental part of our success,” continued Cleaver.

Gibson has a strong background in agencies, having launched Omnicom Media Group’s Ignition Factory Asia Pacific, an integrated strategy and ideas agency, which specialised in non-traditional innovative solutions for clients such as HP, Levi’s and Intel.

He also previously held strategic planning roles for OMD in Hong Kong and Singapore offices including Asia Pacific regional strategic planning director and strategic planning director for North Asia for clients such as McDonald’s, Johnson & Johnson and Visa.

Prior to this Gibson worked in Australia as head of integrated planning at Bellamyhayden and was a business manager at ZenithOptimedia.

Gibson will assume a national role and work across both the Sydney and Perth offices. He will report to CEO Nick Cleaver. He will replace Steve Sinha as national head of media at 303Lowe.

"After discussions with Steve regarding the future direction of our company and the nature of our integrated offering; Steve has tendered his resignation and is leaving the company. I thank him for his positive contribution to the business and wish him well in his future endeavours,” said Cleaver.

Steve Sinha said, “We agreed a few weeks back that the media team needed a different structure. It has been short but sweet and hopefully I have helped 303Lowe gain some clarity on future media direction, as well as a couple of positive wins along the way. They’re a great bunch and I wish them well.”
